COLLAGEN STIMULATOR

What is Collagen Stimulator?

Collagen stimulator (Type R) is comprised of Calcium microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. The calcium microspheres are similar to minerals found naturally in the body so allergy testing is not required. Over time, the body absorbs the microspheres and gel, leaving behind only natural collagen for a more refreshed appearance. Once injected, Collagen Stimulator provides an immediate but temporary correction of moderate lines and volume loss. Over the following 4-6 months the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the calcium microspheres, leaving behind only your own natural collagen for a long-lasting effect. The process of collagen stimulation can take up to 12 months to occur and multiple sessions may be required for optimal results. Collagen stimulators are an excellent treatment for cheeks, jawline, temples, hands, crepiness on the neck or arms and patients with severe volume loss. Collagen stimulators are not suitable for treatment of lips, perioral volume deficit, glabella or forehead.

What does the treatment involve?

Collagen Stimulator injections are performed in chair and take 30minutes or less. Depending on the treatment area our nurse may apply a topical local anaesthetic to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. The exact volume injected depends on the depth of the volume deficit, amount of change desired, skin type, and other factors.
