TREATMENTS

CHEMICAL PEELS
What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure in which an AHA (Alphahydroxy acid) or a BHA (Betahydroxy acid) solution is applied on the skin to remove layers of dead skin cells and stimulate new skin growth, even out skin tone and give a smooth and fresh appearance. A chemical peel can be used to treat rough and dry skin, acne, fine lines, sun damage and hormonal pigmentation.

What does the treatment involve?

During a chemical peel treatment your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated to remove any impurities or makeup. Your therapist will perform a thorough skin assessment before selecting a peel based on your concerns. The peel is applied to the treatment area using gauze and is then left on the skin for up to 10 minutes before being neutralised and removed. Your therapist will then apply a Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Mask to heal and soothe the skin whilst treating you to a relaxing head massage. The mask is then removed and customised serums and finishing creams are applied.

Types of Chemical Peels
Blemish Peel

Rapidly brings blemish prone skin under control and dramatically reduces the risk of future outbreaks. Our Blemish Peel uses a heavy dose of salicylic acid straight into the pores and follicles, helping keep the pores clear of cellular debris therefore reducing the number of pore blockages comedones and calming inflammation. Side effects include mild to moderate skin shedding.

Ageless Peel

An effective combination of acids to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and fade away imperfections, leaving the skin smooth and renewed.

When skin cells are activated, they can produce more collagen and elastin. Stimulation from a chemical peel can increase the production of many key elements that make up a youthful looking complexion.

Rich in L-Mandelic acid and Lactobionic acid, Ageless Peel is the perfect peel to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Side effects may include mild skin shedding.

Brighten Peel

Especially designed to target sun damage and hyperpigmentation, our Brighten Peel penetrates the skin’s pigment cells (melanocytes) to gently and effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted discolouration, for a more even skin tone. Side effects may include mild skin shedding.

Lactic Peel

Our Lactic Acid AHA Peel works by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. It is ideal for the treatment of acne, pigmentation and sun damage, uneven skin tone and mild acne scarring. Side effects are uncommon and there is little to no down time following a Lactic Acid Peel.

What does the treatment cost?

Blemish Peel - $119

Ageless Peel - $119

Brighten Peel - $119

Lactic Peel - $119

Treatment add-on options:

LED Healite - $40 (normally $80)

LED Light therapy is a gentle and natural way to rejuvenate the skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve hydration and stimulate collagen and elastin within the skin. Enjoy a relaxing head massage while the LED light warms and rejuvenates.

Extractions - $20

Using extraction tools, cotton tips and tissues our therapists will gently remove commedones, milia and skin blockages.

How many treatments?

We recommend having 6 peel treatments at 2-4 week intervals. This should be followed by maintenance treatments every few months. Results can last for years, depending on how well you care for your skin afterwards.

Who can have these treatments?

Chemical peels are not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have open wounds, infections, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated.

Olive and darker skin clients are required to prep their skin on our recommended tyrosinase inhibiting serum for 2 weeks prior to having a chemical peel performed.

Post care information

Immediately following a chemical peel treatment your skin will be lightly flushed. We recommend that makeup is not applied on the skin for 12 hours post treatment. Depending on the type of peel you may experience very mild through to moderate skin shedding from day 2-7. We advise that you do not prematurely pick at or exfoliate the dead skin as this may cause scarring or post inflammatory pigmentation. Once the skin peeling is complete you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin’s complexion. Over the next four to six weeks the skin’s appearance will be enhanced further. The skin will look more vibrant, clearer, firmer, and healthier.
