WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure in which an AHA (Alpha hydroxy acid) or a BHA (Beta hydroxy acid) solution is applied to the skin to remove layers of dead skin cells and stimulate new growth, even out tone and give a smooth and fresh appearance. A chemical peel can be used to treat rough and dry skin, acne, fine lines, sun damage and hormonal pigmentation.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
During a chemical peel, the area will be thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated to remove any impurities or makeup. Your therapist will perform a thorough assessment before selecting a peel based on your concerns. The peel is applied to the area using gauze and is then left on the skin for up to 10 minutes before being neutralized and removed.Your therapist will then apply a Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Mask to heal and soothe the skin whilst treating you to a relaxing head massage. The mask is then removed and customized serums and finishing creams are applied.

BLEMISH PEEL

BRIGHTEN PEEL
Specially designed to target sun damage and hyperpigmentation, our Brighten Peel penetrates the skin’s pigment cells (melanocytes) to gently and effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted discolouration, for a more even skin tone. Side effects may include mild skin shedding.
LACTIC PEEL
Our Lactic Acid AHA Peel works by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. It is ideal for the treatment of acne, pigmentation and sun damage, uneven skin tone and mild acne scarring. Side effects are uncommon and there is little to no downtime following a Lactic Peel.
We recommend having 6 peel treatments at 2-4 week intervals. This should be followed by maintenance treatments every few months. Results can last for years, depending on how well you care for your skin afterwards.
Chemical peels are not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have open wounds, infections, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated.
Olive and darker skin clients are required to prep their skin on our recommended tyrosinase inhibiting serum for 2 weeks prior to having a chemical peel performed.

Immediately following a chemical peel treatment your skin will be slightly flushed. We recommend that makeup is not applied on the skin for 12 hours afterwards. Depending on the type of peel you may experience very mild through to moderate skin shedding from day 2-7. We advise that you do not prematurely pick at or exfoliate the dead skin as this may cause scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation. Once the skin peeling is complete you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin’s complexion. Over the next four to six weeks the skin’s appearance will be enhanced further. The skin will look more vibrant, clearer, firmer, and healthier.
